Color

Color (FR. coulure) – a negative phenomenon in the vineyard, where the vines shed their flowers without the formation of ovaries.

In the spring during flowering, rain and wind, as well as lack of necessary chemicals in the soil can cause the flowers fall off the vine, the vine reacts to adverse external conditions. Because each flower on a vine is the future berry, the redemption of the vines from the flowers leads to lower yields.

In the case that “underfed” flower is held on a vine, it produces small berries without seeds.

Lower yields leads to low density of berries per bunch, making it a good blowing off and reduces the risk of rot in humid conditions.
