Fake wine in the shops

“Chicken is not a bird, Lithuania is not a foreign country”. On the shelves of Russian stores is not only the imitation of Italian wines from the Krasnodar region, but also European wine labeled DOC without supporting Italian brands.

Imitation of Italian wine, Lambrusco

The label acknowledges that it is not Italy, and not even wine

Auchan is a bottle of Montepulciano d’abruzzo DOC of the Lithuanian spill. And if Krasnodar “Prosecco” and “Lambrusco” in the Russian retail, unfortunately, do not surprise, because the European regulations of Russia not the decree, the Lithuanian member of the European Union, and there is an indication of the appellations on the labels of wine spilled outside of these appellations – fake. Blue Italian brands certifying DOC, on these bottles, of course, there is no’abruzzo in the Lithuanian state.

Lithuanian wine is the illicit marking of the Italian classification

Details on the label and the back label of the wine of Lithuania:

  • Brand: Bosca
  • Name: Stories of Italy Montepulciano d’abruzzo DOC
  • Manufacturer: UAB “Boslita” IR Ko, Europos pr.40, LT-46368, Kaunas, Lithuania
  • Region : Abruzzo, Italy (the fairy Kingdom on the banks of the Nemunas)
  • Importer: OOO “Uta-NN”, Russia, GN Novgorod.

Indication Denominazione di origine controllata Montepulciano d’abruzzo requires the wine to be bottled in consumer packaging within the specified appellation (within the borders of Lombardy, in this case). Otherwise, this wine can only get the class table wine (old classification), it is “Wine without geographical indication” under the new pan-European (since 2012). Such wines may have on the label only the name of the country of origin (Lithuania in this case) from which they come, but not the country of origin of raw materials.

A gross violation of the labeling of wine causing issues to monitor the contents of the bottle at all, including safety.

Friends, always read the back label! Unfortunately, in Russia permitted by law, shameless introduction of consumer confusion with wine labels. But back are required to give the truth.

Imitation Italian wines Prosecco

The label just says how far from the contents of Prosecco

How to distinguish real from fake Prosecco, can be read on the website of the consortium of Prosecco.

Imitation French sparkling wine with a mocking inscription “special method”. No word in Russian.

The label admits drink fizzy wine spill St. Petersburg, OOO “Bravo Premium”

In General, if the wine pretends that the French, on the label look for confirmation that it is produced in France, if looks like the Italian must be produced and bottled in Italy. Rough mimicry – a sign of questionable content. Alas, on the shelves of Russian stores (not only indoor) plenty of bottles that look like Europeans, but in fact are not always even wine. All legal, but… very ugly. Be careful.
